Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII WRC – full-open (Tamiya)

I've decided to build full-open Lancer Evo VII WRC kit. I mean, as full open as it's possible – with opening front and rear doors, trunk-lid and hood. Under the hood I plan to put ModellingMaster detail-kit of 4G63 engine.

Here are some photos of building process:

For training my hand on cutting front & rear doors I used my old and beaten Evo VII model:

After I've done door sills and pillars for both left and right sides from epoxy I've molded and cast temporarily resin ones for try-fitment:

Next step – building door hinges and constructing door trims.

Minor update:

Openning rear doors is easier than it seems.

To keep the doors locked I will use tiny rare-earth magnets:

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII WRC – full-open (Tamiya)

Good news everyone – I've glued into the body pillars and door sills!
Also i've cut out the hood and trunk lid while glued in under the hood the tension bracer or whatever this thing is called :-) For now everything fits almost perfectly including windshield and rear window.

Gonna scratch hinges for hood and trunk. This should be a tough deal. Wish me good luck.

Here we are in full color, livery and clear coat:

Mind you that all four doors are still opening and closing :-)

And this part of the build was testing on scrap, and yesterday i've begun building real deal full-open model from new kit.

Aweseome!!! How do you cut the hood/door out so cleanly? I tried to cut out the hood on the S2000 and the edges were rough!

Yours looks really good!

Nosrac, thanks for your kind words!

I used Hobby Design Etched saw to cut out all parts – http://www.hlj.com/product/HYDHD05-0003/Sup
