Subaru BRZ

Hi guys,

this is my new project. The Aoshima Subaru BRZ.

A very nice kit with nice details and cheaper as the Tamiya kit.

The original wheels are very nice and look great under this car.

But somehow I think it's a bit boring. So I ordered a set of XXR527 wheels from eightyone81.com. Very nice wheels! And it gives the car a very nice and mean look. While searching on Google to find these wheels on a real car, I found out that these wheels are very populair for this car.

While mica blue is a very nice color for this car (and any Subaru), I wanted something different. I think Daytona Grey Pearl from Audi will suit the car very well.

This is the idea:

Kris.

Re: Subaru BRZ

Awesome! I like the wheels! Could you tell us what it takes to use the wheels on your Aoshima, and Tamiya models?

Re: Subaru BRZ

Body in primer after scribing out the panellines.

And painted Daytona Grey Pearl.

And today I clearcoated it with 2K Clear.

The chassis was painted in bodycolor and clearcoated with Pre-thinned Zero Clearcoat. I hate that clear!

Re: Subaru BRZ

Meanwhile I got a lot of new Aoshima wheels and some of them look pretty cool under the BRZ. And if I use them I don't have to modify the suspension or something else..... I decided to go for Work Meister S1R wheels. The look pretty badass

Unfortunatelly the wheels are just 1 piece. I had to mask them to paint the center...

I made a mix of different Alclad metal paints to get this result:

I build the chassis just OOB with the option to lower it and give it a bit camber. The parts were already painted a while ago, so this was pretty quick done.

The exhaust was painted with Alclad for a nice metal look.

I got the interior already painted but can't complete it before the chassis was completed. I used a mix of grey and a light grey. All Tamiya paints.

Meanwhile it is finished. I'll make some photos of the result soon!

Re: Subaru BRZ

Why do you hate 2K clear?
I think about a switch to that clear from regular prethinned Zero clear.
