code 2135

My 2010 Malibu has been throwing a code 0f 2135 also goes into limp mode. code comes up as throttle pos sen.
So looking I can see it is all built in one with the throttle body.

Can it be changed with out any special tools?

Thanks

Dave

Re: code 2135

2 tps inside the electronic throttle body.0-5 volt signal....one is forward bias and other is reverse biased.when one does not agree with other the code is tripped and limp mode is set.could be a wiring circuit issue or a bad tps.if everything checks out externally with wiring and connector then either bad electronic throttle body or a bad pcm.a enhanced scan tool to look at the tps 1 and tps 2 data pids when throttle is opened from closed to wot with key on engine off.then checking 5 volt ref signal circuit integrity and ground may have to be checked.could check manually with t pins and voltmeter at electronic throttle body and at pcm to isolate problem with a wiring diagram.what size engine?do you have a voltmeter?2.4(b)?

Re: code 2135

T pin terminals d and f at etb electronic throttle body using pos meter and use battery negative terminal if possible or check your ground connection to see if good.(D)D-GN wire and (F)PU wire.....key on engine off manually open throttle from closed to wot.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the throttle body.
  2. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down. Test for less than 5 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal C and ground.
  3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal E and ground.
  4. Test for less than 1 V between the TP sensor 1 signal circuit terminal D and ground.
  5. Test for 4.8-5.2 V between the TP sensor 2 signal circuit terminal F and ground.
(C)TN COLOR WIRE-ground wire
(E)GY COLOR WIRE-5v ref
(D)D-GN COLOR WIRE-TPS 1
(F)PU COLOR WIRE-TPS 2

let me know results.does it do it all the time?if intermittent then have to test when it happens.check the etc connector and pins and wiring.
