McLaren F1 GTR Chassis Number 016R For Sale

Hi there,

In this months Motorsport magazine there is an advertisment for a McLaren F1 GTR that is currently for sale.

The description reads :-

McLaren F1 GTR Chassis No 016R
1996 Bigazzi works team car run by BMW Motorsport in Fina and BMW colours, Raced by Piquet, Soper, Laffite, and Duez. Silverstone 4th & Pole, Le Mans 11th.
The car has now been homologated and licensed to run on the road, but maintained externally & internally as a race car. Rare opportunity to acquire one of only 4 race F1 GTR's able to be used on the road.

Enquiries to Ray Bellm
(Phone and E-mail details are in the advert, but I don't want to post them here, e-mail me if you want them).

I beleive that Ray Bellm has raced a few McLarens in his time, I certainly remember seeing him race the Gulf McLaren in the mid nineties.

There are a couple of pictures of the car and I will see if I can scan them in later.

Regards

Tim Dunlop

I'm good for it - I swear...

Pics and info from QV500.com btw...

mad4models - if you can scan the photos you have to produce larger version, that would still be greatly appreciated.

This car was featured on a british TV program called Dream Machines on Five a few months ago. It was driven by Ray Bellm while the presenter followed in Bellm's original GT40. It was white and had some BMW livery on it, although i doubt the livery was original. Looked pretty good.

Re: McLaren F1 GTR Chassis Number 016R For Sale

I have a 1:43 model of it. I think it's a shame most of the decals were taken off, I think it looks much better with them on, and doesn't it bring down the value of it if you alter its appearence?

Turns out Ray Bellm is to become the new chairman of the British Racing Drivers Club. Hope he does aswell as Martin Brundle.

What i'm having trouble understanding however is why he selling it in the first place. He's a successful businessman, loves cars and has a great car collection. There are only 4 of these in the world. If i had one, i'd hold on to it.
