M3 vs. Ford Cobra

One of the magazines (Car and Driver?) did a comparo of the 2001 Cobra Coup and the BMW M3...their opinion stated the M3 was a better engineered car, slightly better in performance than the 2001 Cobra. But...it wasn't worth the extra $15,000 so the Cobra was better in the comparo....with that said, yes, Fords are junk. I won't buy another because Ford won't honor warranty claims....when I had the engine rebuilt, it had powdered metal rods, cheap-ass valve springs, etc. etc. But...when it was lightly moded (cold air, knn filter and underdrive pulleys) the only car that ever took it straight out was a Porsche Turbo, and it couldnt run away from it at even speed....the Cobra took 2 Porsche Carreras and an M3 easily. After about 12K of mods...naturally aspirated....it flat out torched a pair of M3's and a pair of Mercedes...the problem with the Cobra is excessively high gearing, too much weight in the front end. Those cars, especially the M3, do handle great though. But I don't know where everyone gets the idea that Cobras don't handle. The stock 2001 and 2003 Cobra are rated at .9g skidpad (same as Porsche Carrera) handles very well for a big car. The 2000 Cobra R was rated at 1.05g skidpad. If you really want to see what 'POS' American cars can do....check out the Le Mans/American Le Mans, etc. GTS class. Who are consistently points winners in these series...? Chevy, Saleen, Dodge, and Porsche. By the way, i don't care if a 'mini cooper' will .outperform Vipers and vettes (hahahaha you got to be shitting me)...they are the ugliest car on this planet. Next car will be a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
(Duh...what's that?)

Personally I wouldn't touch a Mustang with a 10 foot pole, I can't afford an M3 but I'm not going to buy some Mustang. I'd rather walk. And the Mini was designed for tight European cities. There's nothing more obscene that seeing some phalic hooded American car blocking sidewalks because they can't fit anywhere.

And whats this fony pride of "well, I modded my car and now its as fast as a Porsche" that all you Mustang drivers have. Do you have some sort of complex that makes you have to prove that even though you didn't have enough money for a Ferrari you're still faster. Don't even bring racing in because I've seen the Mustangs constanly spinning off on corners from good grip/bad handling characteristics on GT circuits.
You know where Mustangs always end up? in junkyards, that's where. Because once they're used up they have no value. Nobody that has any kind of self respect would ever buy some car that some hick drove around in.

my family has never had those kinda fords, but here is what they did have:

1986 ford bronco
1993 Ford tempo GL
1985 ford f150

some other had other other fords, and they are the reason i only like euros now, mostly bimmers.

the tempo constantly had fuel pump problems within 1 year of ownership (that was 1995). brought it to the dealer and they can never fix it, then my dad got a tip from someone, so we ended up dropping the gas tank and replacing the pump ourselves, and the car worked fine. lets just say that sometimes parts fail, but then why did we have to repeatdly see the dealer and they never fixed the issue?

the trucks had 350 engines in them, but whats with a plastic timing gear? we took the bronco engine aprt to rebuild it, and found that shit in there, a big v8 with some sort of plastic or resin gear in there. we also took that to the dealer when we initially had problems with it, they said it was something else, i can remember, then when we got into it, it was not even a close guess.

maybe there cars are ok engineer wise, no, thats not it, but lets say they are. there service is pretty crappy and they cant even tell what is wrong with their own cars. . .

makes me sad that they own parts in so many other car companies, i may one day see a plastic timing gear in a beautiful euro. . .

FORD=Fixed Or Repaired Daily

Found On Road Dead. they are pieces of shit.

My M3 would smoke any type of Mudstain out there regardless of it being a GT, Mach 1, SVT Cobra.

Re: M3 vs. Ford Cobra

Even if the Mustang GT is faster than a BMW 325 in the quarter mile, the BMW would still pass the stranded Mustang a mile down the road! ha ha ha ha ha !!!!
