Not quite a GTO but close.....Long
Finally just broke down and got a new scanner so now I have pics for ya.
The history of my 67' LeMans...... My grey one I bought with an exploded 400 at the ripe old age of 14 for my first car. Rebuilt the 400 had it running for about 24hrs. total when it froze (started it in the summer and put water in to get it running never really got driven except for in and out of my step-dads shop and never got antifreeze) and cracked the sleeve repair from previous explosion. Pulled motor out and got what I thought was another 400 core motor to use for the block, which turned out to be a 455 so i built the 455. Used it as a daily driver while I was in HS. In 91'(senior yr) bought my blue one from an 80yr old lady (she bought it in 68' and had put the 48k miles that it has on it) that ran it into someones yard rock for $400. Parked both grey and blue until I had time to strip the grey one out for parts to rebuild the blue one.12 yes 12 yrs....lol later I finally got a house w/ a garage and it was time to start making one from two. Striped the grey one down to a shell and sent it to the bone yard. Pulled the OHC 6 and powerglide out of the blue one and transplanted the 455 and TH400 in adding HEI distributor and Headman headers in place of the factory manifolds. Not sure if I like them yet they hang awfully low. Changed out the front drums w/ disc off of an early 70's Camero and added powerbrakes with a booster/master cylinder combo and prop valve from OPG. Had the front fenders and wheel wells sandblasted and got them primered. Added Sun-Pro mini gages and tach and transfered my B&M shifter from the grey one. The 455 was rebuilt just before I parked since I blew the piston skirts off of two pistons(damm cast pistons) and wiped out the bottom end. Rebuilt it .40 over 9to1, Heads ported to match the gaskets, crane fireball cam/lifter/valve spring kit, and now a BG Speed Demon 850cfm(had a Holley on it before). It was siezed from sitting but I think being a basically fresh rebuild saved my butt since all I had to was pull the heads off and soak the cylinders with oil for awhile. Using a oil pump drive and drill I primed the bottom end and got it turn. With it turning all I had to do was keep wiping the cylinders down w/ paper towels and oil to take care of what was left of the little surface rust. The pics come from hanging fenders on it so I could get photos of it lookin somewhat complete to the insurance man so it would be covered if the garage burnt down. |

Interesting story. The pics aren't great quality, but the car doesn't look bad... probably better than mine. You plan to do a full restoration?

I'd love to see it stock, but it will be cool to see it as a rod.
How about I was just watching The New Tom Green Show and I saw something interesting. It was the 2nd episode where they buy that white van. When they are looking at the van, there is a white '66 GTO parked behind it. So if anyone happens to see this episode, keep your eyes open. |

Any of ya know where I can find parts for my 77 Grand LeMans? 2 door, factory auto on the floor, factory rally rims, with a 301? Never heard of a 301 but o.k. Engines gone south, and just need some minor trim pieces, but would like to find some whole cars cheap. I mean CHEAP! Payments and insurance on my 96 Blazer are killin me.
