2001 Tahoe Keyless Entry Programming
Morning,
I noticed a couple of threads on this issue but none specific to the 2001. Anyone out there have any thoughts or ideas? Just purchased this machine and a couple of remotes off the internet but I don't have anything in the manual to show me how to do this. Thanks in advance. Rick Herrick Raleigh, NC |

2001 Chevrolet/Geo Tahoe - 4WD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transmitter Programming Important All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to four transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle. You may program up to 4 transmitters, using either of the two following procedures: Transmitter Programming Procedure (Method 1 - No Tools Required) Close all the vehicle doors. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder. Press and hold the door unlock switch. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter. Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation. Transmitter Programming Procedure (Method 2 - Scan Tool Required) Install a scan tool. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF. Use the scan tool in order to access the Body Control Module (BCM) Special Function: Program Key Fobs menu. Follow the directions on the scan tool in order to program the transmitters. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Document ID# 660746 2001 Chevrolet/Geo Tahoe - 4WD |

No problem Rick, I email'd you back but for some reason the email keeps bouncing back to me. I am sure it is something on my end though.
Have a good one |

John, I bought a keyless entry reciever box & key fob transmitter on eBay. I was hoping to install them but can't figure out where the reciever plugs into. My repair manual seems to have left this out of the wiring diagram... any ideas?

You're amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is "4" in this map? The underside of the dash? Or looking at the steering column from the floor?

4 is the plastic cage part of the dash viewing from the top. It is w/o the upper trim pad in place.

Pulling that dash apart without a guide was very, um, interesting
Guess its time to buy the big expensive book (not the useless Pep Boys rag).Anyway, thanks for the help John! It looks like the black box & fob I got off eBay were defective... I get no lock-unlock telling me that I'm in program mode. I wonder if a good mechanic would be able to scan that component thru the OBD2 port to see if its operational

I went hiking the other night and I lost one of my receivers. The dealer is charging me $68 to replace the transmitter. I just bought two transmitters on Ebay, but I'm not sure if they'll work because of the numbers on the back of the remotes.
My original control has the following numbers: GM/LEAR 15042968 FCCID: KOBLEAR1XT CANADA 3521 102 1718 The controls I just bought have the following numbers: GM/LEAR 15042805 FCCID: KOBLEAR1XT CANADA 3521 102 1718 Did I just buy two remotes that will not work on my truck or will I be able to program the three remotes. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for all the detail explanations on all the other posts. |

Re: Differences in remotes

Your year does have two different designs that were used, with the remote cast numbers of 15042806 and 15042803. I have no idea what the 15042805 number means I would be just be guessing whether they would work or not. I say give it a try, as long as the button configuration looks the same they may work. The worst that could happen is you will have to reprogram your original transmitter to work again since programming clears all of the transmitters. |

Thanks for the info. Now, I just have to wait for the remotes to arrive and I will try them since they do look exactly alike. If not I'll just re-sell them and buy another that matches mine exactly. I will though keep instructions on how to program the transmitter for future reference.
I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks!!

Key Less / Remote Memory Settings
Sounds like we have a lot of knowledgable people. Here's my question regarding key less remotes and memory seating etc.
Have a new '05 Z71 and have had difficulty with the memory seats. Neither the drivers side memory buttons (1 or 2) seem to maintain the saved setting, nor do the keys or remote. Wanted to see if anyone else is having a similar problem with the '05. Also wondering if I'm correct in assuming that the remote controls should be able to trigger the memory setting as well as the driver memory buttons - my understanding from the sales person. thanks |

I found keys and a clicker. Is there any way to find the owner from the
info off the clicker? this may be a dumb question buy I'm just trying to get the keys to the owner. Clicker reads:GM/Lear 25695954 FCC ID:KOBLEAR1XT. Thanks, Rapidray |
