New V35 GT-R Pics

http://www.importdriver.com.au/News.htm

Im not sure how reliable the magazine "Auto Express" is, but according to them, the new GT-R shall look like this...

Im kinda disappointed. It looks almost exactly like the 350z. I like the 350z and I think its a beautiful car, but I hoped the GT-R would have a much more unique exterior so as to differentiate it from the rest of the pack. I personally liked the 2001 GT-R concept better. Hopefully, the final product will turn out different.

Auto Express is an English publication as far as i know and they usually have spy shots of new vehicles in the testing process.

doesnt look like they are continuing the RB26DETT engine, but i do like the 2001 GTR Concept version of it better than this one

That has been known for along time now as the costs involved to get the RB to meet new strict emissions laws Nissan deem to great

Its pretty much a Given that the new GTR will be based on the 350Z platform, which is conveintly enough the same platform the new Skyline/G35 uses.

When Renult took control Nissan was ordered to reduce the number of platforms they were useing as it was far far to expensive.
I believe they were limited to only 3-4 basic platforms. Small, Mid and Large FWD, and one RWD.

And in modern car design, as sad as it is, the inline 6cyl engine has become obsolete.

it looks ok though, but i'm still wishing for a real successor to the R34, not just a filler. well, hope this new car lives up to it's name.

Only in Nissans.

BMW still makes a nice I6, so does Volvo.

BMW also still use's a trailing arm IRS, and they only get away with it, like they get away with an I6, because they are BMW, having an I6 engine is part of what makes the cars what they are.

Volvo gets away with it for similar reasons.
For the record TVR also makes an awsome I6 engine, and Ford Australia still uses an I6 in the Falcon (one thats based on a design from the late 50s, and has only just got a twin cam head), but it will change to a V6 with the next model (or at least it should).

the new gtr platform is mainly based off the Z/G35, but with major improvements off the ATESA. I heard LSD and ABS are going to improve big time and also the traction control are going to improve so much that it might compete against even that of EVO and WRX. from what I heard(from Nissan specialty magazine) is that this is going to be released on 2005, and it is powered by VQ35dett. Some say that they are making a special 3.3liter engine just for this car, but that's just a rumor and not confirmed. The final tune is done by "Cosworth"(SP?) company that tunes astommartin vanquish and some F1 cars. The Final handling test is done by Lotus.

As for the apeerance wise, it will definitly looks very similar to that og G35 cause the platform is basically the same. The aerodynamics and cooling systems are very well thought into as it was some problems in the prior skylines.

Engine is said to target the 400bhp range, though some say they want more power to compete the european sports cars.

I can't wait

meh- in terms of styling I vouch for the R32.

Personally I think that the new GTR is going to be interesting- a step in a completely new direction for Nissan- firstly the long-loyal R chassis is gone, the RB engies have retired- then there is the rather high possibility of it being RWD- as opposed to AWD- this is going to be so far away from the previous GTR's- perhaps a universe away!!! Either way I'm looking forward to seeing what Nissan are going to come out with

RWD?

Personally, I'm interested in seeing how Honda - NSX, Mitsu - Evolution or new 3000GT/GTO?, and Subaru - STi Impreza, will respond.
