It's illegal. You can import a Skyline but you can't drive it,it can only be used for shows. In 2004 you will be able to import an R32.The Evo 6 won'y be legal until 2015.You can only inport an car that's 15 years or older.Hop that helps.

Yeah - there is a difference for using the car on the streets or for a collection. You wont be able to register the Skyline if you it directly from Japan

if you plan on using the cars strictly for shows you can import anything. But if you plan on driving it it has to be 15 years or older.Hope that clears things up.

Damn, you people in the USA are deprived of some of the world's best cars. The Skyline is not a threat, the stupid Government just wants you to drive SUVs and get money of you, and they think it is too polluting (stupid emissions laws). I'm from the UK - we get Evo 6s and R34s here

those r one of the reasons i hear from the government, the japanese cars make to much polluted gas..but wait, we have SUV and Trucks wit V8 Turbo from a SUV, or like V10 trucks, Japan has only made a V8 truck, i havent seen a V10 Japan Truck here in the US. They should make the Skyline GTR and other Imports come here.

I was wandering, I would aggree, the Skyline isn't any more poluting than alot of the cars we already have here in the USA..
Would Canada allow the new corvette, I means it's quicker/faster and more dangerous than a skyline, probably much more polution too... does not make sense to me. Canada has some weird liberal laws, nothing personal to the poeple of the county, but they don't want anyone to have a life or any fun, or be able to defend themselfs.. Also Canada has not got the best long term Economy, imports can kill off some jobs, not to get into econmy vs another, but the unions in Canada control the government, and they are a little too restrictive on some stuff that doesn't even matter. People in Canada seem to have less freedome now than the poeple of Saddam's Iraq had before Iraqi Freedome war. I fear we (USA) are next. scott .

I'm not even going to try to figuire out where that crap came from. And please people, don't start any of the obvious idiotic and pointless arguments that are probably going to result from this thread. No "The Skyline's better than the vette" arguments, No "Canada vs USA" arguments, No crap about how imports hurt economies(anyone who knows anything about economics will jsut laugh at this one) and please just totally ignore any of the Iraq crap. As for why the Skyline wasn't sold here, it's not because it's too powerful, and not because of emissions. If Nissan really wanted they could easily make the GTR pass smog. It's simple marketing and economics. The reason nissan didn't bring over the Skyline is the same reason Mitsubishi didn't bring over the lancer, there was no market for it. They wouldn't have been able to sell enough to make a decent profit. Things are now changing. Subaru tested the waters with the WRX and it sold great, now that the market has been proven we're getting the Lancer and the STi. And don't argue that there was a market because there wasn't. 5 years ago the only people in NA who gave a damn about the skyline or the lancer were kids playing videogames in their parents basements. In other words people Nissan and Mitsubishi didn't give a damn about because they couldn't afford to buy a lancer or a skyline. Now that these cars are more widely known and accepted we're starting to see them marketed and released here. There was no demand for the skyline so there was supply, now a demand is emerging, so Nissan plans to release the skyline in NA.
