Any recommendations on what I should pay for a used 1990 BMW 325i convertible for from a "used car dealer". He wants $5,800. The body is in very good condition as is the interior. It has 126,000 miles. After taking the car to a BMW dealer for inspection, the following problems were identified:
1. Leaking gas tank. 2. Bad inner and outer tie rods. Will need alignment after replacing 3. Leaking oil sending unit. 4. Warped front brake rotors. 5. Leaking valve cover gasket. 6. Busted hood release. 7. Leaking rear differential. 8. Missing ABS sensors. Don't want to may too much if it's not worth $5,800. Thanks! |

After listing all those things that are wrong with it, I would hope you would be able to talk the dealer down about 800 dollars. Some of those repairs can be pretty expensive. Oh yeah, question for ya...how much did it cost you to have it inspected at the BMW dealer?

BMW dealer charged $200 for inspection. Their cost for repairs was $3,000. Private import mechanic wanted $2,000 for the repairs.

tell the used car dealer to take the price and shove it up his ass because what he is selling you isn't a bmw especially with all of those things wrong with it...man that thing must have been abused in it's heyday, that price is waaaay too high at most 4,000...

Unfortunately a guy like him gives honest used car dealers a bad rap. I agree with your very candid response. I would get pleasure from shoving the tie-rod up his butt.
