I suspect my mechanic charged me for a new engine and transportation to bring it to him while he removed my engine and reinstalled it charging me $2,000 to do it. I can't prove it until I find the motor number. Where would I find it?
I have a 2001 4D with air VIN 1G3WH52H31F240970 Sandy in FL |

Re: Need to find engine number
Was this a "new" engine, or was this a replacement engine from a junkyard?
If this was a "new" engine, it would come with all kinds of paperwork, especially a warranty..... |

Re: Need to find engine number
He got it online at a site that deals engines from crashes, so no, it wasn't new and it came with no papework and no warrenty

Quote:
$2000 will not buy you a new motor, won't even touch one.

Re: Need to find engine number
My beef is that he reinstalled the same motor he took out.

Re: Need to find engine number
That's probably gonna be hard to prove. And if in fact you can, do you really want this guy to do the work all over again?

Re: Need to find engine number
Why do you think this happened?
Also, why was the engine replaced? Getting an engine casting means nothing if you don't have the number from the previous one.... |

Re: Need to find engine number
Why would a guy pull a engine, and then just drop it back in? Is your issue fixed or did you just want a "new" engine with less miles? As Tech II asked, what makes you think this happened?
