spark plugs

was jump starting stepdaughter 94 88 and noticed sparks coming out under 2 of the plug covers. what does this mean? could this be why she is having trouble starting car? thank you!

If it was on the spark plug side, it's time for plugs and wires. If it was on the coil side it's time for coils and wires (plugs also if you haven't replaced them recently).

Yes, it will contribute to a hard start condition.
