98.whistling noise?
1998 3.1
206,000 miles on it. transmission rebulit about 25,000 miles ago, about 1 year ago. yesterday and again today from intial takeoff i noticed a whistling sound from about 20 mph up to about 40 mph.and it seemed to increase as i applied throttle. is there some kind of vacuum to do with the choke maybe causing it? didn,t notice the whistle after car was operating temp. |

Can you hear it at idle?

Re: 98.whistling noise?
Check all lines. There is one vac line at the top back, almost under the coilpacks, that is a very hard line to get on, and the vac line is almost too short from factory. I had a whistle there, took me a hour to figure out.

Re: 98.whistling noise?
Just came across this post and was wondering what the outcome was...any update?...whistling still there?
I have had a whistling noise since day one on a '95 I acquired about 5 years ago. Only audible at idle and through 1st and 2nd gear. Seems to be more noticeable under the car near the trans. Car runs great with no signs of a vacuum leak.

Re: 98.whistling noise?
I remember this for a hum-type "noise".......but you could hear it at idle.....start car and listen....shut off...disconnect vac line to f/p regulator and plug it....start car...is the "noise" gone? If yes, need a f/p regulator....
It was a strange noise, because it sounded like it was coming from everywhere when sitting in the car..... |
