My daughter called me and said her "battery light" came on. I didn't even know there were battery lights. The car still starts and runs fine. What could cause the "battery light" to come on?

Re: Battery Light
Have the battery and charging system checked. Some of the national brand autostores should be able to check that.
Not sure of vehicle year? Also, the national brand auto stores could check for applicable trouble codes, if there are any? They usually do that for free. Is this vehicle a hybrid or European sale only? Last edited by jdl; 12-02-2013 at 02:42 PM. Reason: more info |

How long has the light been on? That light usually comes on if the alternator isn't putting out the correct voltage.
If her battery is strong it might still run for a while before the battery is low enough it won't start the car. |
