Re-Powering 1996 E250

Mechanic wants to lift body off drive train to gain access....is this correct? And opinions on rebuilding existing motor...sent out to a re-build manufacturer VS swapping a re-build manufacturer. Any particular online re-build company that you are impressed with?

Love my van..fits my life style to a tee.
