Question '02 Ram cluster replacement?

Hi, the lights on the cluster of my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 act funny sometimes and I want to replace the cluster. It has a digital odometer. My question is that when I change the cluster will the mileage stay the same or will it be whatever that replacement cluster says? I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.

Re: '02 Ram cluster replacement?

I just checked replacement procedure in Mitchell 1 On Demand, and your going to have to take your truck either to the dealer or a shop that's able to do reprogramming.

Your replacement instrument cluster will need to have the VIN # programmed to it, so that the cluster "knows" what equipment is available on the truck.

If you don't have it programmed, you may have warning lights that come on for no reason, a CHK ENG light may show up, or worst case scenario, your truck won't start at all.

Having it reprogrammed should not cost you more than $150, but who knows....dealers are very different from one shop to another.
