I have a 99 town car with 78,000 miles. I filled the tank and have run about 1/4 tank when the engine started to misfire. Got the Service Engine Soon light so went to O'reily. The OBDII code is p0306 cyl 6 misfire.
What would you check first? I'm in need of help on this. |

Re: 99 town car with p0306 code !!!
Change out your #6 spark plug, and replace the coil, if it has Coil On Plugs.
#6 spark plug location: As your looking at the engine from the front of the car, passenger side of engine is going to be 1-4, from front of engine to back. 5-8 is going to be drivers side, with #5 on the front. So, #6 is going to be second from the front. |

Re: 99 town car with p0306 code !!!
I have a 99 Continental with a 4.6l 8 cylinder. I had the 301 code a few years back which is a misfire on cylinder #1. I swapped the coils from cylinders 1 and 2 and cleared the codes and when it came back it was a 302 code now which was a misfire on cylinder #2. Swap one of your other coils with #6 and see if the code changes or not. That way your don't buy a coil if you don't need one.
