Dirt's for racin' and asphalt is for getin' there!

To fight cubic inches you guys use ingenuity and cubic dollars to close the gap but let's not forget the great equalizer-DIRT! It didn't matter how much power you had, just how much you could get on the ground. No traction control or trick suspensions, just narrow tires and the aerodymamics of a concrete block made for some heads up and sometimes on your head racing. If you can't sling'em then don't bring'em. The shortest distance between two points is SIDEWAYS!

A light dusting of calcium choride and a little water on some carolina clay is one thing. but a thick coating of glare ice on a lane and a half wide mountain road is another thing altogether. Those rally guys would make great whiskey runners!

I'm a little confused here. If a scale model car sitting on a scale model set doesn't belong on a model board then what does?

ok let me spell it out for you...I dont believe that s a scale model car on a scale model set as you claim it is. You have given no details about the car, what it is? what kit it is? what colors you did? how you made the base? How you got the dust to kick up? the sky so blue? You have only shown one pic of it and basically i think its bullshit to be honest

from what i can gleam from the pic, the body is not rolling, if it was a real car it would, so its very likely a model.
then the sky, if you were to take a photo of your model outside then wouldnt the sky look blue? i think it would, the diorama extends only to the rail at teh edge, and the tree is out of focus.
the dust was very likely added in photo shop or alike, its just a very funky photo, and good on them for taking it looking so convincing, we need more photos dude, keep building.

Thanks Chris, you are right on the money about the photoshop deal. Here's a pic of the "track" before I added the guard railing. It's just a piece of styrofoam painted with red primer. I added the driver and the dust with a photo manipulation program after the main shot. I was a track photographer for about six years and it helps with the perspective on the model pics. I've built cars for a lot of people from David Pearson to Tom Cruise so I guess I have "made my bones" enough to not be talked to like Dublinguy did. If me or my models aren't welcome here then let me know and I'll leave quietly. I have enough boards that I can post on and not bother anyone here.

Luke'57,

Let me just clear something up first, that photo is very deceptive which is of course credit to ur photgraphic abilities. But it still begs the question as to what you were talking about in the text. In my mind you should have given at least some detail about exactly what the subject matter was....you didnt...also you showed one picture which again makes it all look very suspect. And finally you posted it in the the wrong section of the board as there is a sub-section for completed and i-progress projects. The idea of this board is for information on scale modelling which there was an extreme lack of in this post.

I apologise for incorrectly accusing you but you might think twice about the type of thread you start and the information contained within it.

Great pictures, I can see we are going to see some interesting stuff from you.

Now I have to ask, tell us more about the model you built for Tom Cruise

personaly i think you should do a little "how to" on taking photos for us, you have great skills, and i think thats its amazing the way you fooled people into beliving how real it was, testament to the quality of the models and scenery, keep it up and post where you want dude, i wont get mad at ya.
