Thanx Dimex for your reply,,,,,,,but I can't afford to purchase new rims, the point I was making was that why sell a car that you can't buy the same size tires for? Just another thing to get you to pay,pay pay

I purchased a 2000 Neon and it has 15" tires. The size is P185 60R15. What a joke! The only company that even produces a tire this size is Goodyear and the only tire they have availabe is an all-season. I contacted Dodge and was told to buy a P195 60R15. I think it really sucks that they sell cars that you can't buy a tire for! I mean isn't it unsafe to put tires on your car that are not the right size? I am really MAD!

Why don't you get some larger rims. I know that means that you have to spend some cash, but it also means (if you do it well) better handling and better power delivery. Look for some light 16" or 17" rims. Magnesium will be light. Wide rims will help your handling immensely! You can also then get some kick a$$ tires...Proxes FZ-4's, Firehawks, Potenzas....you know,

tire size
Actually Kathy, I think the whole "putting larger tires on your vehicle makes it unsafe" idea is targeted at the guys with trucks that put 36" mudders on their stock trucks. If you got 195's instead of 185's, I am willing to bet you would not notice a thing. I went from the 185s to 205's on my Neon Sport, which are the widest tire you can get in a 60-R14. It actually handles unbelieveably better. It really sticks to the road.

Hey Kathie,
I to have a 98 R/T with 15" tires and yes they are small but hardly unsafe, Dodge makes quality vehicles and teh size of your tires isn't going to affect the safety. I dont think a huge car manufacturer like Dodge would put unsafe tires on cars just to save money. my car has rims and to be hoest they do the job, even in the winter. If you dont have the cash for rims, then dont buy them. Yes bigger rims and widder wheels help handling a lot, but for the tme your Neon's 15 wheels are perfectly fine. Peace........... :smoka: |

Have you checked Tirerack.com and some of the other tire places online. I find it hard, no impossible to believe only one company makes that size tire. My Neon runs 185 65-r14's (another odd size) and I have found several companies that sell them. :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog: :frog:

Re: Tires
Hi Kathy, I have a 2000 Neon, and when I purchased it (used) it had 2 factory Goodyear tires on the back, and on the front it had 2 Cooper tires, and they are indeed 185 60r15's

I'd just like to say that on my 2000 neon with the STOCK 15" rims, I'm running 205/50 Dunlops and the car's handling is unreal. Whoever said you can only run 185 or 195/60 's is lying.
