brakes...pedal still soft
I recently had to replace my left front caliper when my pedal went to the floor last week.
I just had it fixed and on the way home I was stopped at a light on a slope. The pedal slowly went to the floor when I put pressure on it. The brakes work fine while I am driving, I just noticed the pedal drop at the lights. ?? I was hoping the caliper would have fixed everything. Could the master cyl be bad??

I was afraid of that....
There is also a horrible squeaking-rubbing sound coming from the same wheel I just had the caliper replaced on? It stops when I step on the pedal but when my foot is off the pedal, it starts... Anyone ever had this? |

That squeaking is the wear-indicator one of the front brakes. Its just a little metal tab on one of the pads. Just change your brake pads.

The same shit happened to me, and it was the master cylinder, so i'm with everyone, and while ur at it, put on some stainless steel braidlines and you will feel a much better pedal feel!

I don't know if it is the pads though. I think the shop would have told me to replace them too.
The squeak only happens when the pedal is all the way up, when I push on the brakes, it goes away... ??? |

I feel your pain... I've replaced all four rotors, all four pads (rear disc conversion), brand new master cylinder, and bled every brake about 20 times. I still have a squishy pedal
btw, it did it even when i still had rear drums.cant seem to track the problem down. |

that's aight yo...at least you didn't spin the brake shoe material off the shoe and just kinda hangs out in there and it makes the car suddenly brake and shit on its own
I am just hoping it holds out until I have the car off the road to do the rear discy swap along with the other work. ![]() By the way..that scraping could be the pads realigning themselves..they will sit slightly differently on new calipers..it is a spot scraping on the disc when rolling, but not when you step on the brake and apply pressure to the whole setup. Even shitty pads are like $20 for two pairs..not sure why they didn't use new pads when they replaced the caliper

Thanks sastanley,
That makes sense as to where the squeaking is coming from. I'll give them a good workout this weekend and see if it goes away. |

Yeah, that's the way I see it! I spent dough already on the caliper...
As long as the car stops, I can keep driving. And it is fine except pressing down at the lights.. |
