New engine 1998 Yukon
Hi, my Yukon needs a new engine, I have over 200k on it and instead of buying a new truck this is my option. I have been to one mechanic and he said he can get a new engine and transmission for 8 thousand, with a 3 year warranty. Is this a good price? Does anyone know of a company that ships the engine and transmission together?
I have the 4 wheel drive Yukon. Thanks for your replies |

Re: New engine 1998 Yukon
Hi there new member, did say 8000?thats insane you should be able to get crate engine for $1500-$2000 and new trans for $600-$800.then factor in labor probably for another $1500.
The only place I know that ships would probably be Jasper,Also are you changing the trans because of hi milege? |

Re: New engine 1998 Yukon
Thanks for your reply, I didn't get a new engine yet. The price the mechanic wanted was too much, and I'm not sure if I need one or not? I'm still having the same problem, when I go up a steep grade it starts bogging out, if I'm going 50mph and the service engine light goes on. It never heats up, and if I disconnect the battery the light resets itself. So basically I can't go up any hills which makes my driving limited. I love my truck, so I'm not going to get rid of it, just need to find someone honest to work on it. Yeah, I was thinking of getting a new tranny because of the miles. I'll check out the company you mentioned.
Thank you |

Re: New engine 1998 Yukon
Have it check for the codes, a new engine won't correct this.
