Clutch question

I have a line on a 5 speed tranny from a civic lx. The guy told me it will fit up to any d-series block.

Will the clutch work from my 91? (STD 4 speed)

I have heard that I may have to replace the discs, flywheel, and pressure plate too.

Any truth to this or will it be a direct swap?

Sometimes when using parts from Honda and another company (like ACT for example) will cause the clutch to chatter, which means you can't go smoothly from a stop or from 1st to 2nd. This happened to my friend who has a 91crx, and trust me, it SUCKS to get it all back together and find out its doing that.

The tranny is from a 91 lx. So this should work right with my 91 std with no mods right?

And then this will bold right up to a ZC too right??

all d series trannies will bolt up to d series engines. the only problem is the clutch/flywheel/PP. the 88 has a different number of splines, so only an 88 setup is compatible. Oh, and that BS you read about 92-95 having a larger clutch and is better, well, they are the exact same size. I got my d16z6 from a 95 EX and compared the C/PP/F to my 91 DX, it was 100% exactly the same.

Ok thanks!

I was thinking b16a but if I can pick this tranny up for 100 bucks what would the best bang for the buck be as far as a motor that would bolt right up? Oh yeah...cost is kind of a factor....

I'm still trying to find a place I can get a D-Series motor, living in hickory sucks, I can't find any online retailers for them either, but a ZC or D-series should bolt right in.
