The owners manual says not to use a water hose or water pressure to clean your engine.
I now know why. The spark plug wire boots do not keep water from getting under them and the water goes down around the spark plugs. The cavity that the spark plugs are in fills and holds the water. Not knowing that (after washing the engine) I started the car and instantly got a check engine light. The spark plugs were completely under water
and it fried the ignition coil (where the spark wires plug in, not a distributor but similar in appearance to a distributor cap.) Anyway, I ended up replacing all 4 plugs and a new ignition coil. $20 for the plugs and $80 for the ignition coil. Runs good again but was a $100 mistake on my part. All I wanted to do wash clean the engine and compartment. They don't make cars like they used to. I just don't want to see anybody else make that mistake.
