what should I do?
Situation:
91 hatch STD = slow as hell but in nice shape and runs good ($1600) I have only 1500 to spend plus whatever I could sell the car for... Should I sell and look for a DX to fix up for around 3000 or spend 2500 extra on a b16 swap? I bought the car as a commuter but I am sick of the lack of power. Even a DX has 20 more hp. What would you do? |

id put the extra money into a swap, no use changing cars if its in such good shape.

I received a quote from a local shop to do the whole swap for a B16 and 5 speed tranny for 2500. I really want to do it but that would kill the bank account and leave no room for other "emergencies" I wish I had the talent and the room to do it myself but that just isn't going to happen....
Is that a fair price? |

I still cant believe that my local "perfomance shop" quoted me $3000 for a ZC swap in my DX. And after giving me that price he adds in; oh, and thats not including changing the coolant and oil, that will be extra. So unbelievable. Sorry to just throw that out there but I still cant get over it.

Swap it out, I was quoted 2,000 for a full swap a year ago, now he's charging 2,500, minumim. I hate living here, Hell the Advance auto sucks really really bad here, and thats the only "performance" shop I can find. If you get a ZC or a D16y8 or something like that, you can probaly do it yourself beacuse they bolt right in. Good Luck though.
