My First Resin Copy

Here is the intercooler I made with resin and a clay mold...I think it turned out pretty good and I will be selling them. PM me and IM me at Blowncivic1320 for Info.

The paint is a little wierd on it that is why it looks kinda bumpy

So this resin system is it a two part system? Also how fast does it cure?
Cost involved in the resin?

I use epoxy resins at work so I am very curious what these companies charge or shoudl I say overcharge

Resin cures in 5 - 10 minutes, but you can buy one that takes several hours. It depends on the purpose.

Price is a tricky part, because someone, who has no knowledge of scratchbuilding it would think $3 is reasonable, while someone who can make one might think it's too much.

If it has a strong smell to it when you pop the top its probally a polyester resin (also available at auto part stores) The smell is from styrene and the fire risk is from a chemical called cobalt which will give the resin a purplish color. When the hardener mekt and cobalt meet up in large amounts it can risk fire and expolision (get the goggles)

Well I figure I would state the above for saftey of your eyes and face

usally drops is used with the mekt hardener(poly resins). Cause epoxy harders are typicaly measured in larger amounts.

You can make it kick quicker in the future by adding more drops but experiment slow by adding one drop extra per batch so you dont blow up the house heh.

Take like another 5 pictures of it from different angles so we can see the quality... cause as of now, it doesn't look too good. Or get a better camera.

I believe you that it looks better in real life than on that picture, but it would be good for us to see it too!
