How do I replace a wheel hub?
Major downer. Discover my second hand Primera GT has been abused. Took front right hand side wheel off to find that the wheel was only really being held on by 3 of the 4 nuts. As one of the stud bolts seemed to have been hacked of. I'd guess an attempt to correct a threading bodge.
Does any one know how to change the hub over on a 1999 Primera GT? I'd like to know roughly how long this will take as well. Jon Hutson |

Major relief!!
It turns out I can just replace the stud and wheel nut. Nissan will want to charge you £100 for the work (Brighton or Worthing area). A local garage should only charge you an hours labour at most, which means it will be over half the price of letting a Nissan agent have a go. Alternatively, if you've got a blowtorch, centre punch and hammer, you can probably knock the old stud out and bang the new one in. Total cost: New domed chrome wheel nut + hub stud £5.80. + your time or the cost of 1 hours labour at a local garage. Jon |
