Be warned...
Okay, here's the deal with Earl Sheib.
1. They don't warrenty paint on plastic. Meaning if your bumber is made of plastic (civic's are), and the day after you paint it, it chips, cracks, peels or defects in any way, too bad. I was going to paint my old integra to help cover up some bumper damage, and the guy said if the paint 'doesn't take' to the plastic, you're outta luck. 2. They don't remove any accesories. Meaning all your emblems will be taped up and paintd over, not removed first. This means if for whatever reason someone steals your 'H', you have a nice black outline of it underneath. ALSO, relating to point 1, if they accidentally get paint on the emblems, too bad. 3. Painting the door jams is extra $ (something like $20-30 more EACH). I don't know how nice of a paint job you're looking for, but if you open the doors on your new white car, the door jams are still black, the crevaces inbetween the hood/trunk are still black, and any other place that is not on the outside is still black. Now, if you're looking to get a low priced paint job, there's no better deal out there. But there are some things to consider first. Just trying to help out. --filmfiend81:sun: |

If you are going to change the color of your car that much. Do not go to Earl Scheib, or Maaco. Get it done right. A very nice, good quality paint job will run you $1k-$2k maybe even more.
The only way I would go to Maaco, is by doing all the work myself, exept spraying the paint. When Maaco paints, the sand the top coat down a bit, mask off everything, then spray. Well, of coarse, thats not the right way to do things. When I took my old civic in to be painted, I did all the prep work myself. I removed all the trim, emblems, etc. I sanded everything down, filled in the dings and dents. Basically, I did all the prep work. All maaco had to do was spray it. Plus I got their warranty. So, basically, if you do the $700 prep work, and want an OK paint job. Try it my way. I saw my old civic not too long ago, and the paint still looked pretty damn good. But, if you want a damn good paint job, that will last for a very long time. Drop the cash for it. Or you will regret it. |
