Hey, I just ordered my 2002 black infiniti G20 sport and while at the dealer noticed that the turn signals on the G20 are made orange by a lil plastic cover they put inside the case at the factory. Does this mean I have to buy new lights to get the clear turn signal look or can I just take the lights apart and break that orange plastic cover? Has anyone done this that might know an easy way to go about it?:flash:

I don't know if this works for g20's but worked for honda's...
we got a heat gun (pick it up at any home depot). And if you heat the glue around the egde of the lens and the assembly...you can just pull the plastic lens off. And the yank the orange out as a whole. And then you re-heat the glue...and stick the lens back on. If the glue doesn't hold as well...just get some epoxy and and seal it. |

Nope, not possible. Its like trying to disassemble the center of a cube with one opening, and to get to that opening you put the dremmel down a narrow circular hole. Not easy.

Is it really that hard just to punch the orange cap out with a screw driver and break it up with some pliers and let it all slide out the hole?

Here is the deal. It took me 1 whole hour to do one. The orange plastic is a big cube with one opening, the one that lets the light bulb in. It has 2 points where it connects to the housing. The orange cube is bigger than the whole you are working with. The plastic is 100% made outa tuff sh*t. If you bang it with a screwdriver, you will knock the plastic loose in the housing and you can actually see it moving around and stuff. And then when you get the pliars, you have to pull hard as sh*t to get a little piece out. And when you use the pliars, there is a good chance of scraping the housing up. Hard to do a clean job. It is easier said than done.

Yo trust me...mad difficult. I'm about to leave mine. I tried it but did not work at all. Try to heat the glue and take off the lens. The lens are held in there with two plastic clips (which can easily be pulled out I'm sure) and glue. Try your way. If it works...it'll be a hella lot easier than doing the old school dremel tool way.
Hard is an understatement...good luck anyways and let us know what the outcome is 2002 G20 w/sports package |

The smartest way to go is to get someone who has done it before to do it for you. Like if you ask an import shop, I bet ya they will do it for you. They have all of the necessary equipment to do a clean job. Sure you'll have to pay them a dub or two, but in the end it will all be worth it.
peace
