Throttle 'Lag'

Yes , its just like turbo lag. sometimes when you press the accelerator the engine 'lags' but why? also sometimes the engine seems to be very slow, as if it is caught in too low a gear. is this correct?

What car is this on, and what (if any) engine modifications have you done? It's probably a fuel or timing issue, or too large a cam/intake manifold.

One of the main problems with turbochargers is that they do not provide an immediate power boost when you step on the gas. It takes a second for the turbine to get up to speed before boost is produced. This results in a feeling of lag when you step on the gas, and then the car lunges ahead when the turbo gets moving.

A smaller, lighter turbo charger can stop it lagging so much.

I think I may know what you're talking about. I sometimes have a hard time driving cars other than mine that use manual transmissions because the gas doesn't seem to come on as quickly when compared to my car. I noticed this the most on my friend's G35 coupe.

yeah thats pretty much what happens, but if youre touchy on the throttle you can get some nice acceleration. on this sebring its about half way to the floor and it really takes off.

Doesn't have a turbo.
