Intro
Hey everybody.. im new to this froum and im from Australia... I have just purchased a brand new 2002 Black WRX.... had it about two weeks and already have put a FMIC and BOV and Cold air intake all from APS In Victoria... next mod will be a UNICHIP nas up the boost... i love it.. i have had 4 Impreza now and the last one was a 97 Model with the works putting out 171kw@4wheels @ 20psi... anyway ill be on here as a regular and hopefully enjoy it

well i have picked up a N1 Exhust from a mate from the CAT back so thall be going on tomorrow... the UNICHIP is going on Monday with 17psi...
The 97 model had a VF22 Rollar bearing... running 20 psi

Ok no probs.... first what boost are you going to be running.. The VF 23 is only efficent for around the 16 to 18 psi mark.. you can go higher but efficiency will be an issue. wont be smooth and have a good chance of blowing your turbo up.. Good turbo though and will make around 160 to 180 kw@wheels depending what computer you run..AS for fuel you will not need to touch it one bit. the Fuel pump is pretty good in it and i left mine as it was and it did 100000km on it.. Honestly get a computer for the engine which will allow you to run boost safely and will allow you to change the air/fuel ratios ..... Dont up the boost past 16 psi unless you have a computer cause youll do damage to the donk..Te injectors in the Legacy engine i think are either 380cc or 440cc.. if they are there cool.. the 440cc are the same as the STi....Are you running a front mount or a Aftermarket computer... what about the Exhust... We havnt had the Legacy in Australia until about two months ago.. they are called a Liberty over here and are a 2.0ltr Twin Turbo... niiiiiice....

I'll be aiming ~17PSI, apparently it is the maximum boost the factory MAP sensor will detect...
The tuning will be done with a LINK computer (you can stop laughing now)  Remembering this is the old-school Liberty/Legacy RS (which if I remember correctly, is also briefly Australia-delivered from 92 onwards) I am unsure what size injectors it came with. Other mods include a fuel pressure regulator, 3" exhaust from turbo back, and an A'PEX-i cone filter (the entire intake to the turbo is redone). As for intercooler it's the factor water-to-air unit. I think it's adequate in New Zealand conditions. Maybe order a front-mount radiator from MRT if required. What do you think?

its taken me 30 minutes to stop laughing about the LINK.. sorry jsut kidding.. they are very fuel hungry and not many people know how to tune them very well... NZ may be better... your set up sounds good and i thnik they are 380cc injectors.... you will prolly get around the 130 to 150 kw at the wheels.. good luck

You are right on the mark!
Done the LINK tuning today. It went sweet-as, given the car's set-up.
Injectors ended up with 95% duty cycle @ 6500RPM. Boost scrambles to ~17PSI then goes to the set target of 14-15PSI. The car felt much smoother than before, althought I only picked up about 10kW - and the engine doesn't ping no more. It is holding a steady ~140 wheel kW on the dyno now, as before it would go to 130 then taper off wildly... In NZ the Link is pretty much the only viable ECU for Subarus, except for "Group N" add-on chips. Thanks for your help 4WD2NV
