Talking MR2 Progress Thread (pics inside)!!

Im helping my friend build his MR2 SW20, we just sprayed the car Mica Red today and it came out very good. And we also sprayed the chassis silver leaf, but it looks very much close to chrome. I also made a custom front and rear end of the car, I cut the front and rear grill off to make it have a more agressive look to it, and also for the intercooler to show and so i have more room to put in some custom HKS exhausts. Tell me whut u guys think so far. Thanx

The modifications i did was make the custom front and rear end of the car. If u look closely u can see i did some modifications to the front and rear body kit. And the kit doesnt come with a motor its a curbside kit.

not to kill your buzz, but the mr2 is a mid-engine car which means putting an intercooler in the front would require piping through the cabin and finally into the engine. i have never seen a fmic on an mr2 that's not to say that there's none into existance... just that i've never seen one. then again, it may just be my ignorance into the inner workings of an mr2.

i think that's the radiator. i believe the stock intercooler on the mr2's are in the vent on the passenger side. it would require quite a bit of piping for the intercooler (front mount) to reach the engine. i'm not to say that no one has ever done it before but it would require alot of work and planning. but anyway...

the color looks cool shorty! i've always loved mr2's and look forward to the end result . i'm tempted to do mine as well

He's right shorty, it would be rather odd to have a intercooler in the front of an MR2, but you could always put some nice mesh grill to fill it in.

When i was building the chassis i was wondering that too, that would be to much piping for it to be front mounted so it would really be side mounted intercooler SMIC.

it is a fun car to build I jsut finished mine and there are pics here down the board. If you want I noticed after I painted it that there is alot of room for an easy body kit. POST PICS WHEN DONE!

Yeah i know he wont...considering its my car. I was thinking of scratch-building an intercooler myself, mount it in the front. I think I'll also make sum tubing go through the cabin to the rear. I was also thinking of scratch-building a body kit, the kind like on my avatar and signature, since my car is stil pretty high even though i cut the suspension. I'll post pics once i get my hands on a digi cam.
