Shopping for a head unit online

Well, I've come to the conclusion that finding a seller for Eclipse head units (besides ebay) is almost virtually impossible. *If anyone knows of a website that offers their decks, please give a link!

I know Alpine is overrated, but I've fallen in love with this unit. So check it out....

I'm looking at spending anywhere from $500 up to, and maybe above $1k for the right one. Not interested in DVD players, don't dig the bling.

I don't agree that Alpine HUs are over-rated. They are excellent HU, in my opinion. Exactly as they specified on its power, capabilities, added features, plus the sharp looking design.

The Alpine cda-7998 if i am not too stoned. Biolite display with cd programmable user interface. A nice unit which i have had in the whip at one time. I am spoiled when it comes to audio equip. i have second tenure round here so when something comes out and we need a demo vehicle.I get second dibs. Eclipse hu's are nice especially the 8443 w/ 8v preout that's some strong signal w/ low ohm's of resistance 55 to be the exact. With the pretty plan ie. No dolphin races display and visible presets it's a nice peice. The only problem with buying stuff online is the warranty since none of the below condone or authorize internet sales the warranty is nihl. JL audio,alpine,eclipse,pioneer,kicker,us amps to name a few. IF your stuff comes with a fucked up button or a cracked display or whatever just try to get a replacement from one of these companies or the online distributors. I have heard stories of the reps laughing. The M.A.P. which is Manufaturers Anticipated Price is 799.95 we sell it for 599 in the showroom. Suggested retail on the eclipse 8443 is 419.99 we sell it for 399. I know internet prices are way better but in someways you take a risk. I know the discussion started on HU's and i made a point about the warranty this goes with subs also did you know if you blow your kicker subs you can get them replace for a minimal price of say shipping from the place you purchased them for upto a year.
compared to internet where again it blows which is know to happen once and again in subs there is no replacement.

If you want my two cents, the HU's that 60Hz163.5db mentioned are both good. But after what he said, I'd be wary of buyin off the net (which I personally am wary of anyways, I like to buy stuff from from normal stores, I've never liked buying off the web). But anyways for me, warranty is a big thing. I have a Premier deck, and after a year and a half, the thing started to sound really f'd up after playin cd's for a half hour, sometimes a little more or less. It kept gettin worse, sounded really crackly, sound faded. Anyways, since it had a 2 year warranty, I took it in to the authorized repair place. Most of the wires had been pinched and stuff, making it full of bad wires and crimped wires to make a long story short. This had messed the cd mechanism. My whole cd unit was toast. But since it was under warranty, Pioneer sent them a new cd mechanism. I got a brand new cd unit (in the same outer casing as the one). I think back, and if I'd had a one year warranty or bought it offline, I'd be out a new deck. So I would personally get a unit from an authorized dealer so the warranty is valid.

the 940 is a nice peice fo sho but i don't understand why you would spend the extra money besides the looks on the unit just cause it has the hdd i mean i know this is important to some ppl but how many of us would really actually use this feature. In respect to that i like the 840 due to the dual faces therefore giving you the nice calm metallic plain look but with a rear screen that has all the cute little shit that chicks dig.
No offense to anyone that digs the little movies they are cool the first 5 times you see em.
