yeh, the only problem, with the current set up; if the wheels and tires are 1mm smaller, im screwed, because the front end will scrape.

I'm assuming that you shaved the axle posts to lower the truck (posts on the inside of the body on AMT promos that hold the metal axles in place at a certain height). If this is the case, simply use rod styrene (or sprue if you're at a loss for supplies) to build up the posts to the raise height so you can use larger diameter, lower profile rubber.

In the future, you may want to take stock of your parts box and form a more concise idea as to your build BEFORE making large modifications that require serious reconstruction to repair. Here, it is less of a concern, but if this had been a mod along the line of cutting a hole in the hood of a 1934 Ford to fit a blown Hemi and then deciding that you wanted a TPI small-block, you would've been hosed.

Also advisable would be a great deal more patience in builds such as this. The promo-polished plastic with tampo-printed markings and drop-in interior mods (such as nitrous that is not in any way wired to an injection system, or speakers that are haphazardly placed) are not a path towards multi-page threads or contest wins. A little effort, a little patience, and a little creativity, please. It will help you become a much better modeler, and I can see that there is potential for you to become as such.

I dont really care for it to be multi page, or a contest winner (i never once entered ANY of my kits), but i have wired up complete system.. but whats the point? Its a curbside kit anyway..

The point, as I have always seen, is that effort and quality are always more appreciated than detail or modification simply for the sake of having detail and modification. There is a modeler by the name of Ken Brickell whose models are simply phenomeonal customs, but he has almost never built a full detail kit. Our own primera man is another example of how impressed people are with clean from-the-box builds.

On the other side of the coin, there was a huge thread that was started when someone (GTMike_400, or something similar) posted pics of a heavily modified, but poorly finished 1/43rd scale Del Sol. Yes, the modifications were impressive, and made the car stand out, but the quality (and lack thereof) destroyed its appearance.

It's not the kit. It's not the subject matter. It's not the materials, or parts, or the supplies. It's time, creativity, effort, forethought, and passion for automobiles that creates a good model. Please, do not consider this as an insult, or an affront, but as advice from one modeler to another.

For inspirational purposes, here is one of Mr. Ken "Bondo" Brickell's models.

maybey he isnt as experianced to the modeling hobbie, and dosent have skill like those shown??? How did you start out, by making show stopper models that turned heads at model shows??? I mean ya the model could use some work but give the poor guy a break, i dont care what you call it, an insult some advise, w/e let him build what he wants.....

p.s. dont take this as an insult, its just my 2 cents.

Well, if he was simply "starting out" then I'd have no umbrage whatsoever with his builds and would not be as critical. However, he has proven in other threads that he is talented at scratchbuilding, weathering, suspension alteration, and laying down a respectable finish.

And for the record, my first model took fourth place in my local hobby shop's annual model car show which is judged by our chapter of the IPMS. They tend to lend high marks to two tone 1967 GTX's (white & True Blue Pearl) with accurately wired Hemis and well done bare-metal foil.

P.S. that red ford you put up could use a little work its self like the head lights... i can still see the red paint, y not add some bmf??? Plus the decals make it look like shit i think. The guys just havin fun with the idea, the model wasnt sopposed to be a 3 year huge-ass project, ya think???? Like Camaro said it wasnt. Sorry for the flamming, but c.mon saying the guy is gonna be a shitty builder forever is just friggin supid, cuz he hasnt built n e "show-stopper" models yet. Give me a break.
