Gas gage problem

mmkay...ok this is the prob...when i have the ignition on it shows how mutch gas i have but when i turn it on (the car) it gos up to full.But the thing is it isent ...and to get it down again i have to open up the gages and pull it down..... it was ok when i bought the car. It started acting up a week ago. any ideas

Anyone?......its a dumb problem but i need help...its hard to drive around not knowing how long u have to drive....id think the answer im gone get is buy a new one or get it from a junkyard am i right or what?...but id like to fix it...if possible

help...

it might not be the gauge itself, but the sender unit from the tank..

but why dosent it show full with the ignition on?...it only shows full then i acutally turn the engine on and get the engine up to about 3000rpm i know when it was ok and i made it up to 6000rpm (110km/h) the gage showed that the tank was empty but when i stoped the gage when´t back to normal.

Could be a loose wire in there somewhere.

i'm having practicly the same prob...

when in my garage my the needle goes to were ever it should "well at least i think" then when the car starts moving the needle starts going down but in a weird whay , it's like it's falling on steps...

And when ever i fill her up more then half the tank the needle goes below empty and as i burn the gaz it works its whay back up...



"what i think might be causing my prob is that i played with the needles whyle inserting a gauge face"
