rust removal...
I have about a nickle size spot of rust under my back window (driver's side). How hard is this to fix? Does anybody know some possible solutions? Should I take it to the mech'? Thanks guys.

Well, they're talking about major rust... the rust I'm experiencing is dented in under the window, and about the size of a nickle. Should I sand it down further and bondo over it?

With rust, there are a few things you need to remember. First, the closer the spot is to eye-level, the easier it will be to notice if it isn't done perfectly. The other thing is that darker colors show errors in the bondo better than lighter colors, but some lighter colors (especially white) are hard to blend. And as a hint, spray a rust converter on the rust after you have sanded it (it helps to seal it). And once you think you're done with the bondo, spray a primer on it, if you can see a line when the primer is sprayed on, it will look worse when it is painted. *and don't forget to wet-sand*
But if it is a spot where the paint has peeled off and it is just the rust showing, I would say go for it, you can't make it look much worse. |
