4wd conversion on a civic

I read a forum once talking about a 4WD CRX is it possible on a civic.
Because I want to drift soo bad. If I can't should I just get a 4WD wagon and fix that up is there potential on those wagons? Any suggestions.

Because you wanna drift?? So buy a 180SX, a 200SX, an S15, geez. Lemme guess, you dont even know HOW to drift really do you? How much power do you think a decent drifter needs? A HELL of a lot more than you'll get to initiate 4WD drift from a civic... Or if you DO want a 4WD hatch, get a Mazda Familia or something..

Ok, I'll be a bit kinder than the previous two posters. 4wd ain't easy, and it ain't worth it. 4wd wagon, not even worth it, no aftermarket, and the weakest stock axles ever. Bottom line, don't bother.

Yeah, on the Wagon you'll be burning up clutches REAL fast, and the drivetrain is an assist-type, which wouldn't help you drift at all, and the drivetrain couldn't take much more ponies before snapping, so you'd have to do a LOT of custom work to do it.

Honda Tuning is doing a AWD conversion on an ITR, but they're already starting with a killer platform, and they have bottomless resources and technical information.

yea i agree with them, if you want to drift, either learn how to drift your FWD...I know im gonna get flamed for even saying that, oh well, its possible. Or you could get a 180, 240, 86-88 Corolla, MR2, the list goes on.

I am planning on the 4wd civic swap later down the road, but not for drifting purposes, for rally purposes. I know a FWD will do pretty good in a rally, but I wanna see how a 4WD Civic Hatch will do. I'm not plannin on using the wagon drivetrain either, plannin on a CRV drivetrain. I don't think its gonna be that hard, gonna take some creativity and fabricating, but I think its easily possible.

no offense to honda or anything but honda's idea of 4wd is a joke, my mom has a crv and it looks like it has toothpicks for axles, i doubt they would hold up long off roads

LOL - A WRX wouldn't stand up offroad either... there's offroad 4WD and on-road 4WD remember

Anyway, there's a JDM 4 door around here somewhere - apparently an option in Japan in 4 door as well as Shuttle 5 door. The 4 door is running a ZC. Will post pics when I have the opportunity to take them.

Oh and as per the post - drifting is predominantly a RWD sport, not a 4WD - although I have seen some FWD drifting happen It's more to do with throttle response and seriously fucking up your geometry to do it
