1/20 Fujimi Williams FW14B
Hi guys,
After completing McLaren MP 4/6, I started building this kit as it has been waiting for me to build for a few weeks. ![]() Here are the photos of the engine. Took me a while to make this. ![]() ![]() ![]() The exhaust & attached the exhaust to the engine. ![]() ![]() ![]() At least those parts fit like a glove. Whew... That will be it for the time being. Re: 1/20 Fujimi Williams FW14B
Hi guys,
Here are the updates on my latest project. Here are the photos after attaching the engine & attaching the rear suspension. ![]() ![]() ![]() This took me a few days to get the alignment right for the masking. Stage 1 : I primed them all then I sprayed with white. As the shop didn't have anymore TS-26 in stock, thus I have to use alternative. After that I sprayed the monocoque with TS-34. ![]() ![]() Stage 2 : I have to make sure the alignment for the yellow on the rear cowl must be inline with the monocoque. That took me a while to have the right alignment for the yellow part on the rear cowl. After that I painted the rear cowl with TS-34. The masking tape provided from the kit is not bad. Should have shown the photo before I painted the rear cowl with TS-34 ![]() ![]() Final stage : I removed the previous masking from stage 2 to replace them with the new ones. Once I managed to get the alignment correct, then it is ready to paint. ![]() Here is the output after going through these stages. I have to clean up a little bleeding on the rear cowl. ![]() ![]() I thought of trying to place the monocoque together then later on put on the harness & the steering wheel inside after the paint work but unfortunately when I tried to test fit, I wasn't able to do so. This is because since the monocoque is divided into 2 pieces, I thought of placing them together & take out the dividing line with the putty but looks like I couldn't as I wouldn't be able to put the steering console & the harness inside after I attach the monocoque Will continue my work from there on. Nice work so far, paintwork looks good. It's some tricky masking for the 3 colours, but well worth it..

Re: 1/20 Fujimi Williams FW14B
Hi guys,
Thanks, Steve, for your comments. This took me a few days to get be where it is now. For the side pods, I have to do a little bit of work on the monocoque that is drilling the hole a little bigger so that they can slot in to the side of the monocoque. Also, it took me a while to get the brake discs to be attached to the suspension. Nevertheless, here are the photos of the work. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now only left to do the work on the nose cone, front wing, rear wing & the tyres before finishing the kit with decal work. Re: 1/20 Fujimi Williams FW14B
Hi guys,
Here are photos of the completed kit. At least the parts for this kit fits like a glove. The camel logo I used is F'artefice. The size is quite right for the parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now waiting for the 1/12 kit of FW14B to arrive at my place. I'm thinking of making the FW16, any issues in fittings of parts? Adrian |

Looks great, very nice work and quick build too. Which blue did you use for the body parts..?? I think the FW16 is ok for fit, just some of the decals are a bit too big...

Re: 1/20 Fujimi Williams FW14B
Adrian - do they have 3M products where you live?
3M makes a flexible plastic tape called "fine line" that is blue and comes in 3mm and 6mm widths - I use it for my tape line where the paint will end and then I cover the rest in painting masking tape and paper. I can PM you a link if you do not know about it The tape makes for a very clean line so there is no bleed through of the paint under the tape like you get with your masking tape John |

The blue is used is TS-44. I've looked up about the drawbacks & issues on the FW16, it's true that there's been comments that the Segafredo logo at the side of the monocoque is too big along with the stripes which are a little wide. Just now I had a thought about making Ferrari 248F1 & I had tried to look up on the drawbacks & issues about the kit but to no avail. Any problems on the kit as well? How about Ferrari F92A as I'm thinking of building it after making the 1/12 version of FW14B? John : My place has 3M tape but kind of hard to get them these days. Thanks again. Adrian |
