Any accounting/business people here that can answer this?

When you change to a new process there is some sort of downtime cost that occurs(money/time/pissed off customers employees etc.) during the change over. Can anyone tell me the official term used for this concept? There must be one.

If I didn't get my point across, for example you have an inefficient machine you want to update to something more cost effective. That day you shut everything down to update it causes some sort of cost to the business(even though it will be made up and more once the new machine is in place). That cost must have a name.

Thanks.

I'd say that it would fall under "opportunity cost".
