2002 F150 fuel pump module location?

My brothers 2002 F150 4.6l has a starting problem of when he shuts it off it will be hard to start sometimes. If he lets it sit for a while it will start right up. I did a search a looks like the fuel pump modules are subject in these trucks. The search also have them mounted on a cross member by the spare tire, this truck does not. My question is where is the fuel module located on the truck?

thanks

Re: 2002 F150 fuel pump module location?

Try the top of the frame arch, above the rear axle, on the drivers side. Or slightly forward of the arch. The body of the module is aluminum and they mounted them directly to the steel frame. The two metals don't like each other and the aluminum gets eaten away exposing the electronics inside and burning it out. New ones are powder coated and come with spacers to keep them from contacting the steel.
