Transmission Cooler Line Replacement

Hi,

I need to replace one of transmission cooler lines and was wondering if anyone had a write up? I have no idea how to remove the line that goes into the transmission. Is this something easy to replace? Any special tools required?

Thanks

I believe you will just need a correctly-sized line wrench and just loosen the fitting at the transmission. I've not had problems with this end. It's the other end into the radiator that will be tricky. You'll probably have to take a few things out to get the room for a wrench. If it is the bottom radiator line that you are going to remove, in the past I've loosened the whole radiator and sorta lifted it up and moved it rearwards slightly, then I put a vise-grip on it in such a way so that it was hanging down. Then from the driver's side I put my foot on it and pushed real hard to break it loose. You have to be careful that you don't tear the whole thread out of the radiator. Familiarize yourself with what the fitting looks like that goes into the radiator. It's a threaded fitting that goes in and then there's a barbed line that snaps into it. You can possibly get the little retaining clip out and just pull the line out without removing the threaded fitting, but I was not able to really see it well enough to do that. Good luck.

Re: Transmission Cooler Line Replacement

I just saw that the lines have a piece of rubber on the center, and one of it's sides has a clamp on it so you can remove that clamp and remove either potion of the line you need (radiator or transmission side).

Oscar.
