DO you guys leave your climate control fan on?
In my 99' Taurus manual, it says you should only switch the climate control to off for short periods of time, when the outside air stinks. So I have been under the impression to just always leave my vent and fan (on level 1) on to let fresh air enter my car. When my fan is off, no air enters the vents. So I only turn it off when it stinks outside. Should I continue this, or do you guys turn yours off to prevent your fan blower from crapping out earlier then it should?

Re: DO you guys leave your climate control fan on?
It isn't for fan life. It is saying that so air is moving to keep the windows from fogging when temperatures and air moisture conditions would lead to it. Also because cars have better seals, to bring in fresh air when your breath creates carbon dioxide and extra moisture. I have read recently that it is suggested to keep it off in heavy traffic to keep all the extra pollution out, but to cycle through turning it on occasionally to relieve the CO2.

Re: DO you guys leave your climate control fan on?
Ok, thanks man. Yeah that makes sense, if the air is polluted from heavy traffic, then cut off the fan for a while.
I will continue to leave the vent and fan on except when I got the windows down, since the window down will allow air to replace the C02, moisturized air in the car. I think that was the answer I was looking for too: If I should leave my fan on to replace the air in the car with fresh air. I don't live to far from the ocean either, so the moisture does pick up when the clouds roll in. For the past few years I had the fan on even with the windows down, but now I realize I don't need to.
