Egr valve location.
Hello Guys,
This site has been a lot of help to me on my 05 LS V6. I wanted to know if anyone knows where the EGR valve is located on this 2005 3.0L Lincoln LS. I would appreciate any help. I have close to 160k miles and wanted to clean it or replace it. Thanks Areez. |

Re: Egr valve location.
I'm not sure on the 2005, but if it didn't change from 2002, the EGR is located to the passenger side of the throttle plate. It's a vacuum-controlled diaphragm, slightly smaller than what you might be used to, and mounted directly to the upper intake manifold. There's a rigid line that threads in to the valve as well.

Re: Egr valve location.
Hey Rod,
The 05 model is different, unfortunately, its not near the throttle plate. I can perhaps email you a pic of my LS from up top. I've been scratching my head. Also getting a wrench sign with total power loss at times. I have to floor it to clear. Acts like it is clogged up somewhere or a bad sensor. Will a bad speed sensor (output speed sensor) create the E message on the instrument cluster where you see the gear signs ( R,P,D etc ). Just replaced coils, plugs, valve cover gaskets and new top and bottom manifold gaskets. Any help would be great. Thanks Rod. |

Re: Egr valve location.
I checked the 2005 service manual and it does not list a procedure for the EGR on the V6, only on the V8. The service manual for the 2002 model year shows both. Your 2005 may not have a serviceable EGR valve.
Before getting too excited about cleaning the EGR valve I'd suggest you get the diagnostic codes checked for the transmission and powertrain to see if anything points to your symptoms. -Rod |

The EGR valves are expensive. I wouldn't mess with it without indication that it has a problem. Remove the plastic cover over the engine. The EGR valve module (valve+solenoid+sensors) is at the front of the engine on the passenger side right off of the throttle body where it attaches to the manifold. |
