2013 24 Hours Of Spa Winner

Hi guys,

This is my new project. it's the 2013 24 Hours Of Spa Winner(HTP Motorsport). The basekit for this build is the Fujimi Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3 Street version with a decal set from Racing Decals43. I have started this project a few weeks ago, but had to keep it silent, before the decals where announced on his Facebookpage: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Racin...ation=timeline . This is the boxart and it's what it's going to be:

First i dryfitted the body parts al together and saw that there where some flaws in the design. The panels under the doors needed to be glued on the body, but didn't fit well, so i cutted of the fixings and glued them together with some plastic card. I also saw that the panel lines under the doors where about 1mm and above the doors 0.5mm. So i puttied the panel lines under the doors again and re scribed them again with a fine scriber tool:

Also there is a plate underneath the backend of the car. Fujimi molded it together with the floor, so it had to be cut off and glued to the body:

So after a whole lot of sanding and priming the body was ready to receive some filler, so it can be blocked out and cure little mistakes. It looked pretty good. It's already been blocked and washes and ready for some Tamiya White Primer:

I also started on the interior. Like all previous GT3 cars, Fujimi molded in the electronics boxes and fire extinguisher. So i cutted ou the molded in parts and replaced it with some plastic card. I still need to make some electronics boxes from scratch and replace the fire extinguisher(thank Alex):

There is still a lot to do, so updates are coming soon.

Best regards,
Lesley

Re: 2013 24 Hours Of Spa Winner

Hi guys,

Thanks guys for the nice comments.

Here is another update. I have worked mainly on the interior and body this weekend. As we all know. Fujimi has the intention of mold in all the detail parts, so those had to be replaced. I used mostly plastic card and further detail will be added when the paintjob end cf work is done:

Original dashboard:

scratched interior:

Dryfit with rollcage in it:

And the body got it's final coat of primer. It's already been sanded and washed and ready for some paint in a few days.

More updates soon.

Best regards,
Lesley

Re: 2013 24 Hours Of Spa Winner

A very important package came in the mail today:

The decals are looking very sharp and crisp. I can't wait to place them on the body. All parts are painted today, but no pictures yet, because the paint is still drying. Pics will follow tomorrow or the day after.

Best regards,
Lesley

Re: 2013 24 Hours Of Spa Winner

Interesting theme Lesley and many tips in this WIP.
Good luck until the end...

PS. Why you put putty in all the door panel (6th photo on first update)?
