2000 Hyundai Elantra automatic 94,000 miles

Hi, my speedometer and odomoter stopped working last week and my service engine light came on. Checked the code and it said vehicle speed sensor was malfunctioning. I bought a brand new vehicle speed sensor and installed it while the battery was disconnected. The speedometer and odometer still aren't worked but the service engine light hasn't come back on (yet). Does anyone know how I can further troubleshoot this problem. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!
