Porsche 924

This is one of my favorit car. The kit was produced in 1977 by Monogram. I don't want to make a big changes for a better appearance, but some of them will have been made. This is the box and its contents.

I will make a Europe version. The model will be presented to my friend, which is the owner of this car, before the New Year:

Let's start. The body has bent in my kit. It needs to correct.

The windows are very scratched in my kit.

The front and the rear end were glued. The front bumper was cut out.

The backrests was glued. Very bad fitting.

I decided to cut out the luggage floor and to glue it with the body for the better look.

The rear drive shafts will be a bit corrected. At first I cut out its imitation.

The rear bumper was cut out.

The luggage floor was glued.

Re: Porsche 924

Good start and the right attitude on what looks like a very basic kit.

Interesting project (for mazochists). But I've seen your previous works, so it'll be amazing accurate machine!

Re: Porsche 924

jabel: As I wrote above this will be mostly OOB, without global changes. I will add just a few little corrections.

Re: Porsche 924

Nice choice. I had a real one in high school. It was a '78 in medium brown with big 5 mph bumpers like in the Monogram kit. I know brown sounds boring but the 924 color was attractive on the car. The interior had several shades of brown and the seats were vinyl with tweed inserts. I like the European bumper in your first pic of the yellow car. It looks more aerodynamic. They were well built cars but the little Audi 4 cylinder wasn't enough. The 944 took half the 928 block and that's when the car became a hit in the US.

Re: Porsche 924

Thanks for the comments.
A little progress. I've detected that the spare wheel cover is not aligned to the bottom pocket.

At first I decided to move the cover to the right.

But it was a mistake. After the studying of the photos I've seen that the cover was in the correct position. It was glued back to the place.

The bottom pocket was cut out and glued closer to the center of the car.

A chrom plate was deleted from the wheels and the door handles. All cavities and holes in a luggage carrier were filled with putty. Also I've started to work with the new front and rear bumpers.

These tires will be used (on the left). I don't like the kit tire (on the right).

This is the box.

Re: Porsche 924

The front bumper is 50% ready.

The rear bumper is in progress.

I can't stop to make the better appearance rear seat.

Now it needs in widening.

This gap will be filled.

Today I studied the real object with the ruler. I've took a lot of photos like these:
