Sub & Amp

Hi all,

I have a 2000 Maxima w/ the bose system. I wanted to add a sub and and amp and I had read in the bulletin somewhere that you could do this by connecting a high/low adapter (PAC-SNI35). I just bought that adapter, I wanted to see if anybody actually knows how to connect it? I know that you have to splice into the cables from the bose amp-spkr assembly, but I don't know what wires I have to splice into (Color Code). If anybody has done it or knows how to do it, I would really appreciate the help.

honestly, your best bet is to do it by process of elimination.

look at the speaker wires comming from the radio and eliminate those colors from the list of wires at the stock amp, then work from there. its a pain in the ass but most people have never seen the wires let alone know the colors off hand.

another way could be to go somewhere like circuit city or some audio shop and ask them for a wiring sheet. that will usually tell you which wires do what

I hope you have already figured out how to do it, seeing as how you posted it almost 3 months ago. But, if you haven't, I will try to help. I actually work at Circuit City in the car audio sales and installation department. Bose, well any premium audio system for that matter, but especially bose, are always tricky. There is like 5 different things that they can do and combinations of them, and each system is a little different. For example, the car might have a amplifier hidden somewhere, or might be amplified at the speaker. Don't ever plan on changing any of the speakers unless you want to do a lot of work. You basically will probably have to rewire each speaker and change out the deck all at the same time. It's a pain, but that's what happens when you want the nicer factory systems. Anyway, enough of my complaining .... regarding your car. Chances are your car is amplified at the speaker. If you take a look in your trunk and look at the speaker, you will see it greatly oversized if it is amplified at the speaker. Think about it .... you have an amplifier attached to each speaker .... it better be pretty big. You will have to get signal after it passes through the amplifier, so you will have to tap into the signal right before it goes onto the cone. If there is no amplifier on the speaker, chances are there is just a factory amplifier somewhere else on the car. If so, then it's easy .... just tap into the speaker wire right at the speaker.
