New engine wont start
1988 s10 blazer 2.8 4x4 automatic
i just upgraded to a 3.4 v6, all machine work done, engine has all new internals. I have spark, i have fuel, but it will not start. I have checked the timing over and over, it is fine. I need a checklist or something to look for, all sensors seem to be hooked up and it still wont fire. |

Re: New engine wont start
I set it on the compression stroke. I have not checked compression being it was a professionally built engine I assumed it was safe to skip that step. I feel the compression fight me when I turn the crank. It pops through the throttle body like a back fire sometimes. I tried another distributor thinking it may have gone bad but not change. I also checked the timing chain thinking I may have installed the timing set wrong but it was correct.

Re: New engine wont start
Any info on that 3.4? What year is it? What was its intended application?

Re: New engine wont start
it was from a 95 Camaro. I have tried 2 caps, new wires, new rotor another distributor as I said before and plugs as well without change.

Correct firing order? If s then it should start and run. Will it fire with a squirt of carb cleaner?
