Rough idle

My sons 97 ram 5.9 liter 4x4 has an intermittent miss. Jus put cap an rotor an last year plugs n wires. Cap n rotor was an hour ago. It starts to miss an smells like not burning well. The exhaust kinda sounds like its snappin. Sittin with brake on it feels like a car with a cam loapin?? New plugs n wires again? Pickup coil? Also tried the coil today.

Re: Rough idle

If the Check Engine light is on, you can take it to a chain type auto parts store for a free scan. This will point to what direction to take.

Re: Rough idle

Ok there was no light but thanks. We got new wires an also took plugs out. One looked a little rough another looked like it had been dipped in grease on firing side. So anyway plugs n wires fixed it.
