Fusion ignition problem

2007 Fusion 3.0, had misfire #2 (P0302). I pulled the coil and it was toasted (burned smell and all). I replaced the coil and now I'm getting P0351, P0352, P0356 and P0506, all pointing to further ignition problems. Is there a dedicated ignition module on this car that may have been damaged by the coil shorting out? If so, where is it? I have a Haynes manual, but there is no mention of an ignition module.

Re: Fusion ignition problem

I found out that Ford has a TSB related to these symptoms which entails replacing the PCM, ALL the coils and spark plugs. Apparently, when one coil fries it takes the PCM out and just replacing the PCM is risky in that if one coil goes, the others may not be far behind. I will post back with the TSB. I found Motorcraft coils at Rockauto.com for $88 each, so it may be a good idea to replace the coils before one shorts and takes your PCM out, if your vehicle in listed in the TSB.

Re: Fusion ignition problem

The TSB is 13-4-17. The repair shop seems to be having trouble locating a PCM, saying Ford can't remanufacture them fast enough to keep up with demand.

The PCM should be covered under Federal Emissions Warranty for 8 years or 80k miles. Referenced in your owners manual and also EPA website.
