Check engine light 2008 silverado z71

recently my check engine light came on, I had the codes read, the tech said that i had air getting into my fuel system, i replaced my gas cap. my light is still on, he also mentioned some kind of emissions sylinoid may need replaced, or a vent valve idk.

I recently drove up to Sandusky OH for the weekend, my light didnt come on til i refuled with gas containing 15% enthenol. the engine is running fine, no miss, has good power. I ran it down to a 1/4 of a tank and filled back up and the light is still on.

Is your truck "Flex fuel" compatible? If not, E85 will set lean codes.

I had the use of a chevy flex fuel for a while. used E85 the lower cost does NOT make the use of this fuel a good deal. we are getting screwed with this cost for lower MPG fuel.

on the code issue you may need a new canister or vent valve/cleaning vent line issue. If you fill you tank to the very top then park it this is a common code.

liquid fuel causes the canister to plug up the venting valves/lines.

you could also have a leak like the vent line in/around the fuel tank another common problem.

the canister sealing with an epoxy compound good for solvent use will work for a while . sand down the surface to ruff it up then use a solvent cleaner and apply the epoxy. I have seen this work in many areas in this case it is vapor. now if the fuel tank had a leak then you would require it to be replaced ..

put the gas cap on loose until the epoxy is cured.
